Chakras are the vital energy centres in our body. There are more than 200 chakras in our body, but there are only seven chakras that have major functions throughout our entire body. These seven chakras work as ‘governors’ for all other chakras in our body, and will be the chakras that are referred to throughout the rest of this page. Understanding chakras is necessary if we are to easily raise our mental and physical vibration to frequencies that match those of our guides and angels.
Chakras absorb energies and transfer them into our body. Each one of the seven chakras has their unique contribution to individual parts of our body. Great yogis have seen that these chakras have colours, and the colour for each individual chakra helps that chakras to receive more energy of its particular type.
If there is a problem in our health, there must be a corresponding energy blockage in the related chakras. Reiki channels/healers, Pranic healers and pendulum healers can find the charka that has an energy blockage and clear it. This ensures that the energy passing into and from the chakra can pass easily in our body and the physical problem subsides.
Energy blockage occurs due to a negative mind-set or worrying. But if we practice meditation regularly we will find that it is a wonderful way to clear and to keep clear these seven chakras that have such a profound effect for us, on all levels. Mental and spiritual growth will be moving toward its peak as a result. It is real, and thousands of practitioners and teachers agree with this from their own direct experience.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’, referring to the whirling vortices of light that they are. They bring together the energy body and the physical body. Your soul has seven spiritual centres (the chakras) that control your physical, emotional, and psychological life. When each of them is in balance, your life flows smoothly. When any one of them is out of balance, the imbalance can show up as a physical symptom affecting a particular area of your body, or as an emotional or psychological symptom affecting your outlook and mood.
First chakra: Root or base chakra
The first chakra is our foundation. When it is balanced, we have a solid foundation in life. We know that we will be taken care of no matter what. We trust in life.

Second chakra: Spleen, sacral, or navel chakra
The second chakra is our vitality. This is the “pleasure centre”. It teaches us what we like and what makes us feel good. It’s about what stimulates you, what moves you, what excites and inspires you. It activates your imagination and shows you what it’s like to feel fully alive through your senses.

Third chakra: Solar plexus chakra
The third chakra represents personal power creating our own destiny. This is the centre of decision and choice – your ability to say “I can” or “I will”. It enables you to take full responsibility for yourself and to assume personal authority in your life. An unbalanced third chakra can lead to low self-esteem and problems with your stomach. Laughter is often the best medicine for third chakra imbalance, when circumstances take on their correct perspective we no longer feel the ‘little me’ or the ‘victim’ mentality. The release of stress that this assertion of perspective brings is often expressed through laughter, ironic though it may often be.

Affects: Pancreas, adrenals, stomach, liver, gallbladder, nervous system, muscles. Will, personal power, energy, self-control, humour, laughter

Note: first, second, and third are collectively known as the lower chakras. These form a foundation of physical and emotional well-being. Grounding techniques will open all of these lower chakras evenly.
Fourth chakra: heart chakra
The fourth chakra is the heart. This centre governs your feelings of compassion, forgiveness, understanding, empathy, caring, and love. It is the centre point of your spiritual anatomy. An unbalanced fourth chakra is associated with having difficulties opening up to others and with a weak heart. An open heart chakra enables you to give and not just take.
Location: Centre of chest
Function: the point where the higher, more spiritual chakras join with the lower, more physical chakras
Affects: Heart, thymus gland, circulatory system, arms, hands, lungs. Unconditional love, forgiveness, compassion, understanding, balance, oneness with life, acceptance, contentment.
